I was Kiwi # 685 – David Vaealiki

  1. One of the best products to come out of Christchurch in recent times, Vaealiki enjoyed six seasons in the NRL with Parramatta, breaking through into the Kiwi team to appear in seven Tests between 2000 and 2003.

After making a two-try international debut against the Cook Islands, subsequent success proved hard to come by in the black jersey, with two victories over France being mixed in with three losses to Australia and one to Great Britain.

A member of the Eels’ losing grand final side in 2001, Vaealiki carved a reputation as a potent attacking weapon who later enjoyed a successful stint with Wigan in the Super League.

These days Vaealiki works as a personal trainer in New South Wales.
