    Hi all.

Was wanting to get opinions, ideas and comments on what fans would like to see improved in terms of memberships, membership packs, pregame game events, game day experience, after match functions etc.

Basically the club are trying to engage with fans more and try get more people to become members, get along to games and improve the game day experience of fans.

Any useful relevant comments and ideas will be raised on your behalf with Warriors Fan Engagement Manager Aaron Lawton and CEO Cameron George at an upcoming meeting

    Cheers...

Gday Welly - I was on the Membership Council year before last and sent an email in around structuring memberships.

More specifically, starting with a basic package but the ability to restructure depending on whether you wanted that seasons polo / jersey or whatever.

Appreciate you can buy a variety of memberships now and head to the store for merch - however I’m talking about a combined process that allowed the pending member to dial up or dial down a membership by customising a combination of seating and merchandising options.

The fan experience would be heightened by receiving the merch as part of the membership pack in the mail.

Secondly - a much stronger digital offering such as more desktop and mobile phone wallpapers with around detail built in as an eg.

Built into the current refreshed app, and with a fans contributions section to boot. That way the creative ones amongst us could contribute, the club could manage what goes online in need of managing licensing issues.

    Happy to expand in need.

I would love to see more passionate fans at games. More noise, more homemade banners, more old school gear.

I don't think it can be seen as being driven by the club though (ala the chants they tried to implement at the start of 2016). It has to be off the back of a group of hardcore fans to start off with and then supported by the club.

Which sections at Mt Smart are seen as the most lively now? I know there was that Lower East bay that used to be filled with banners but that seems to have died down a little over the last few years?

When the Western Sydney Wanderers started a few years ago, their supporter base was crazy from the start. They stand all game singing and chanting and marching from pubs close to wherever they are playing. I know football is a different sport and culture worldwide but if we could add just a tiny bit of their passion, we would be better off as fans and the players would love it. From what the WSW fans did, other teams in the A-League took notice and really stepped their game up too.

I think a good initiative would be an "active" bay where you can sit/stand where you like and basically be as loud and proud as you want. People who want in on that sort of atmosphere can buy a ticket/membership for that bay and people who don't can steer clear.

It would take a while to grow, we aren't going to have an army of fans chanting in unison overnight. But with a little bit of planning and a few changes, we can get something cool and a bit different going over here in NZ. It would certainly be intimidating for other teams in the NRL coming to Mt Smart.

Anybody else keen? Anybody got a megaphone lying around? Haha

My game day experience would definitely improve if they won a few more.

Better away memberships please. Looks like there’s only 1 on offer this year - “across the ditch single game” or something. Pretty poor considering we’re playing in Brisbane and Gold Coast this year. I would’ve bought one of those 2 game passes like they used to have for QLD fans.

I guess they’re trying to win back support from a lot of Home fans. There’s never going to be a shortage of fans in Aus. Still feels like we’ve been shafted a bit though

Some of the changes to the memberships are interesting. Despite living in the same city as the club I can't make it to many games or to the point I can commit to X amount of games. One of the ones they announced seemed to suit me, looks like they also announced one where you can build you own. Both seem worth a look.

Pre-match and halftime entertainment seem to be like a lot of modern things, cut down. Imagine when you were young your toys would come with more accessories, potentially a bio and a comic book. Now things are pretty bare bones.

It must be hard to make each game special especially when most fans get to the ground just before the game starts.

A modern game day experience would match what you get at home. I've seen talk of stadiums getting wifi so fans could get stats or commentary etc.

Sadly no matter what the club does they will always and forever be judged by what happens on the field. Start winning on a regular basis and the only gripe fans will have is that they find it hard to purchase tickets. I'm amazed at the fortitude and loyalty of Warriors fans despite the results of late.

I'd like to see the members tent expanded. Great place to watch the game and have a beer.

Bring back members pins in the membership packs.

Bring back the game MC who use to get the chants going.

Open training sessions both home and away.

Give out free flags in the hope that some sections of the stands look like the MMT fans efforts against England. This is where sticking to one damn jersey colour also comes into play.

Make sure all vendors at Mt Smart have EFTPOS with Paywave.

Have members forums not only in Auckland but Sydney and Gold Coast as well.

Give me free match worn Jerseys

Free buses from Britomart, Albany and Manukau directly to Mt Smart and back.

Two different players after every game to be made available to fans for an hour in the members tent with the club announcing those players with the team list on Tuesdays.

Members jersey with all members names on it that will be available for retail sale and also worn during a game by the players.

All preseason games in NZ and taken to smaller towns with full programme of activities like footy clinics, meet and greets, signings etc.

    Limited members only merchandise...

Would love to see the Warriors run out of the tunnel again.

Also sick of hearing the Savage song before kickoff, it's been a constant irritation for two whole seasons now.
So nice hearing AC/DC - Back in Black whenever Simon Mannering scores the odd try.

When I first started watching league the huge lags used to intrigue me. Hey I was only 10 years old. They looked to help create the game day environment as it looked like the fans were passionate, could be a pain sitting behind them.

This should be a given for all games. When the Council was trying to get the club to move grounds it was listed that this would happen if they moved. This is an event in your city in one of your stadiums. It should be done for all games at least at the level of NRL/Super Rugby to help with ease congestion and make going to events a lot easier.

Is transport not a part of ticket price? I know with the concerts i have been to at Mt Smart, i have ignored the free transport to the game included in the ticket (buses from Britomart at 5 minute intervals), but taken the free buses from not far from the ground to the CBD on a first in first served basis with set drop off points along the way. I thought i had read on the ticket information that public transport to and from the the venue was standard. I realise for locals who arent in the CBD this isnt necessarily a suitable option, but i thought it was a great set-up

Im based in Brisbane now, so I havent really considered joining as a member since the away members package is pretty basic, which I spose is also reflected in the pricing. If they boosted that package somehow (I personally dont have any ideas on what they could do, which probably doesn't help haha) it could pique my interest more.

I know that with all sports games in Brisbane/Gold Coast major stadiums, all busses and trains are free to get to and back from the games, which I find is very handy.

If the Warriors dont have a similar agreement already, this is something that needs to be addressed asap, especially considering the location of Mt Smart.

Only train rides are free on gameday but the train stop is a 15 minute walk from the stadium. Bit of mission when its raining and dark out...

As long as it's anything but bucket hat. Seriously I know it's been more than ten years but whoever's idea it was to hand out bucket hats to all members that one season they did it deserves to be killed. "Hey congratulations brah on rejoining with our team, here you want to wear this bucket hat Johnny Ray ?" "Sure ! That will look great on me when I'm outside playing hackie sack with all my friends and listening to Smashmouth, the fuck is wrong with you people..."

Awesome. Laugh hard but here are all my suggestions for club :

1.) A club room. With current re-development of Sylvia Park and Dressmart soon to be going into refurbishment can we please start seriously looking into building NZWarriors club room close to Mt Smart Stadium. Even some kind of theme restaurant (-think Tiki Lounge/Trader Joe's) would be good. That we are still only club out of all 16 teams currently active in NRL not to have club room I feel is real indictment on us.

2.) A pop up club room. If we can't have club room, if it is too cost prohibitive, can we have we at least look into pop up club room during game days ? For instance, you could rent some car park space out front of Sylvia Park and put in a couple of marque tents. From there you can then run free buses that can take you directly Mt Smart Stadium stopping outside of gate B instead of fifteen minute walk from train station that you have to do now.

    - Also can you please organise it with your major sponsor Skycity to run buses to game from casino downtown ? That and with these free buses why not as well organise it for them take fans to games that are being held around country and are within driving distance ? It could be free for members and ten bucks for everybody else. That this club for example still doesn't run buses to trial games play in North Shore, Tauranga, Rotorua etc really gets to me

3.) Member packages. A member package where you get to choose not only your specially priced seats but also merchandise from member pins, to hats to this year NZ Warriors jersey with your name printed on back for free. Also why is it with NZ Warriors that we are only club in competion that doesn't discount price of your membership the longer you remain member ? For example I know Roosters and Rabbitoh supporters who because they been member of club for twenty plus years they both only have to pay half of what everybody else does for their seats. Honestly I think that if you have been a member of this club since 1995, it's only fair that you should pay $19.95 for your seat from now on (excluding merchandise).

4.) Fan engagement. I think there's need to be more fan engagement from players in this club especially with use of your sponsors. Open up training sessions. Have them go to schools or where possible send some of players to former local leagues club. Do player signing sessions at Rebel Sport. If you're really creative get Simon Mannering to work Drive Thru at Wendy's in Mt Wellington. Just do anything that can help raise your club public profile more.

5.) Fan experience. Speaking of Wendy's at Mt Wellington, with your sponsors is there anyway you can work out deal where anybody wearing Warriors Jersey at one of their stores gets 10% off their next purchase ? You want people who have NZ Warriors jersey to wear them all the time and this is one way I think you can do it.

6.) Social Media. More Social Media involvement. Not just with Facebook, Instagram and Twitter but also with your own club App. The app should have alot more content on it from introductory player videos to videos of full game day matches going back to club inception in 1995. Vodaphone your principal sponsor used send periodic txt messages to all club members of developments within team from game day scores to player signings and re-signings, coaches, managers etc. They really need to start doing that again.

7.) Local Development. More open partnership with leagues club in your local Auckland area. You know don't just have kids play their matches during game day, give them bucket, let them go around stadium collecting donations from people. Also with all your match day sponsors why not just for goodwill make them share that with a local NZ charity group ? Skycity and Oxfam. NZ Herald and Cancer Society. Suziki and Autism New Zealand. For team that wants to be seen as community leader, I would like to see you and your corporate sponsors do more work for the community including charity as I suspect many more out there like me would. Thank you.

Since leaving Auckland some years ago I relied on someone to drive me up to Auckland for the games. I can tell you we didn't miss many home games. Time has taken it's toll and those kind souls are now at a stage where they can't drive either - or won't in Auckland.
As stated the Penrose Station is impractical - too far from the ground for some, risky for night games & last time the bloody trains didn't show. Try hailing down a taxi in the depths of Penrose at 11pm. They just went straight past.
Getting to Auckland by public transport isn't an issue but for the blind & the lame getting to Mt Smart is not worth the stress.

So - either buses to link with trains at Penrose or direct return game day buses from several strategic points around Auck would get my arse back into a membership quick smart . If Brisbane & the Gold Coast can do it why the hell can't Auckland.

    Free match replays.
    I hate missing a game.
Should have the whole season of games available to stream.
