This is all starting to sound a bit Steve Matai – ish

With the exception of the Foran saga, which was more about getting him registered, when the warriors make a big signing, there is little media beat up before its officially announced and they rarely state the contract value.

I would guess that Blair has an offer on the table from the warriors and is now seeing if someone will top it.

I hope that they pull the offer TBH. I like Blair as a player, but not for that much.

Agree. It sounds like a huge publicity stunt drummed up by Blairs managers to drive up his price. Theres probably only one club they are targetting who are willing to offer 4 years and a ridiculous salary- hint - its not the broncos, knights or dragons...very smart move if they've used connections in the media to spread false rumours

he is better than what we have.

but he is also not that great.

and he could get much much worse if he falls victim to the warriors curse... he looks like a likely candidate.

    sheeeesh.... 4 years?

Maybe. Puts out more statzz, but is more likely to spend time in the injury ward.

If the bulldogs pay a lot of the freight, then great, but if the bulldogs are subsiding his contract, he could probably have his pick of Sydney teams and not have to move.

Are the Warriors about to dish out $2.4m for Adam Blair?
The Courier Mail reports that Blair has received the biggest offer of his career, more than double what Brisbane are expected to offer for his services.

According to the Courier Mail, Blair was been offered a four-year deal worth AU$600,000 a year."

That is double what Brisbane are offering FFS.

If that is true JD has lost his fec
king senses. $600,000 for two years is one thing, four years is just crazy.

If Kearney is behind the offer he should be sacked as well.

This is desperation caused by having no plans in place.

I would rather they go and get some young country boys, even from Australia and put them on 2 year contacts.

I really hope he goes to St George or the Knights.

Wow just when you think the club could not be any more retarded. This is a terrible signing at that kind of cash and for that long.

Why don't we pay overs from some young up and coming aussie players, his formula of bringing home Kiwis players on retirement packages does not work.

    Doyle is enabling Kearney.

Four years would be a big mistake, although maybe they back themselves to ship him on after two or three?
600k a year sounds like a lot, although we need to remember that it will part of a 9.2mill cap, not the 7 mill we are operating on in 2017. Assuming a 9.2 cap 600k in 2018, translates to 470k in 2017 (admittedly this does not allow for any increase in min wage). It is overs but I am not sure it is ridiculous given how much we have left to spend and how few players want to come here

No nrl club would pay 600k for a then 34/35 year old. We would be back to subsidising player contracts for players to play for others.

    This club never learns.

I agree that a 4 year term is stupid. Not only will he be old, but it gives him little performance incentive for those first years. The TV rights deal is locked in for that entire period so expect modest increases to the cap. That means by the time he has hit his last season the cap should be at least 10 mill. This means that the last year of his contract would be worth $420k in 2017 terms. It is obviously too much for a 35 year old, but we do need to temper that outrage by remembering it will be in an environment when all the players will be earning more

Holy some fans are smoking crack.
    1. We HAVE to spend 90% of the cap
    2. We're not the only ones chasing Blair
    3. A lot can happen in 4 years. People were crying that Manu would be here next year not earning his pay check. Guess what, he's not
    4. If he brings 50% of his aggression he'll be a bargain
    5. I'd rather Blair for 600 then Mutts for 700

Yes they do so go out and find some boys from the bush and pay overs to them. Clubs that pay this sort of money are just advertising how much shite they are in. They will stay in the shite because this is not the way to get out of it. They would have been better to pay Mutts the $700k.

We have being paying BOYS overs for a while.
That's why we have Kata, Vere, and Lisone all on the books. Howd that work out?

We are desperate, everyone knows we are desperate, you think not admitting it will solve anything? Part of the Warriors problem, the state of constant denial

Also we did offer Mutts pretty close to 700 and he still turned up down

What I meant was to get out on the road and do some decent scouting like the Australians do and start from scratch. Paying overs is one thing, paying $2.4 million for a 33 year old is just insane. That is not the way to win a comp so why bother doing it? It just puts the club in salary cap hock.

It s like the old Seagulls paying overs for Brent Todd and Wally Lewis, and where did that lead? It ruined two careers and sent that club broke.

Good on you girl, you stay over in Oz and take the money from St George.
If Kearney is behind this I take back everything I said about him. He should be sacked, and Doyle with him.

Ohh okay, I didn't realise it was that easy to find NRL first gade players, eligible, and willing to play for the Warriors, and move to NZ.
Why didn't you say so in the first place!!!
