Regardless of who we sign for 2018, he will be the best out of the lot. Very happy we got him.

Arthur Lydiard worked that out 60 years ago, and nothing has changed. Mileage builds up core stamina and there is no replacement for it, but it has to be started very early, which could be a worry for those in the Kiwi squad.

I stand corrected it wasn't a RLW article I was thinking of as it looks like it was that one. Pretty sure I have that one somewhere.

A lot of what he says such as basing everything around the olympic lifts I like. The way he adds the other exercises around it is interesting.

This year we had a few broken arms but the previous years we were getting a lot of leg injuries. Hopefully all of this leg focus gets the side conditioned to take the knocks, sure a lot of injuries are also down to luck.

Just remember that when you're hyping up Corvo to unrealistic expectations

Corvo just said that Kearney is the greatest coach he's ever worked with.

Better than Bennett, Bellamy, Maninga etc....

New Broncos high-performance boss Alex Corvo can save Anthony Griffin's job
    Pete Badel, News Corp Australia
    February 6, 2014 12:00am
FORMER Test star Matthew Johns believes new Broncos high-performance boss Alex Corvo is the secret weapon who can save coach Anthony Griffin's job and deliver Brisbane to the top four.
Having sacked a number of key off-field staff, Griffin's new regime faces its first test on Saturday night when the Broncos take on North Queensland in a pre-season trial at Dolphin Oval.

Since arriving in Brisbane over summer from Melbourne, Corvo has subjected Broncos players to some punishing sessions, including a brutal two-hour hitout at Red Hill on Monday.

Johns, Newcastle's former premiership-winning pivot, worked alongside Corvo at the Storm and says the conditioning guru will give Brisbane the hard edge that made Melbourne a title force.

Melbourne Storm captain Cameron Smith during a weights session talks with strength coach Alex Corvo.
Without an established halves pairing, the Broncos have been written off as a premiership threat in 2014, but Johns is adamant Corvo is the ace up Griffin's sleeve.

"With Alex Corvo on deck, I think the Broncos are capable of a top-four season," said Johns, who saw Corvo's methods first-hand while performing consultancy work for the Storm.

"He only knows one way and that's the Melbourne way _ Brisbane will get good results from Alex.

"Alex comes from the Melbourne mentality instilled by Craig Bellamy and that's what he will bring to the Broncos.

New Broncos Head of Performance Unit, Alex Corvo, with a young Brisbane fan during a members day event.
"If you look at sides over the last number of years, the teams that train hardest have the most success and Corvo, under Bellamy, worked the Storm players harder than anyone.

"As a conditioner, you have to be careful that sports science doesn't pull players from the edge of their capabilities and Alex has the right mix.

"He trains guys hard but there is a science to it. One thing certain about the Broncos this season is that they will be fit and very strong."

Johns said Griffin would almost certainly be axed if Brisbane failed to fire this season. But he praised the coach's courage in not only overhauling his coaching staff, but implementing leadership change by handing Corey Parker the captaincy.

"Taking the captaincy off Sam (Thaiday) was a courageous move by Hook. I know Sam took it tough but if you are not having success, you have to do something," he said.

"Hook has realised the situation and at the end of the day thought, 'I'm on my last chance, I have to make some tough decisions'.

"If you are not having success, you have to change something and shake things up. Let's go back to what Wayne Bennett did with Wally Lewis, he bit the bullet, sacked him as captain and it caused huge controversy. But it was the turning point in Wayne's coaching career.

"There is a change of mentality at Red Hill. They have had a good look at their football operations and are shaking things up a little bit.

"The Broncos will go well. I get the feeling that things are about to turn for the club ... they will be one of the big improvers this year, they are going to be a real handful."

Vitch: "We'll talk over the next few hours about the unfit warriors. Is that unfair?"

    Corvo: "No it's not."

2013 they got 12th, 2015 was when Bennett came back, so on that basis unless we get a super coach the best we can hope for is 8th:(

Corvo is a big Warriors fan and a fan of the kiwi way of playing League.

Kearney approached Corvo and he has a lot of respect for Kearney from all the time they've worked together at the Storm and Brisbane. He also said that Doyle and co have been very good.

He then said the Warriors have been one of a few clubs which the better teams know that when you go set for set with they'll eventually crack, but with our improved completion rates and lower error rates, we're seeing great improvement in this area. There are obviously other areas that still need improving.

I like what he's saying. It makes a lot of sense IMO.

Hmm ... starts to make sense now.. the club hasn't recruited many players for 2018 but looks like SK brought in Corvo to see whos worthy to stay and weed out the rats... Our forwards although lacking a bit in size, could be converted to genuine hard bastards. It will either toughen up or piss off. Might be a lot of wannabes looking to transfer out next year ... soon see....
