Yes saw that, watched the reply too - The space was there for Green to push up and take the offload. Granted he was setting for the next play but the offload was on...

I think it was knocked out anyway.

Blake Green makes more than 9 metres from his penalty kicks for touch.

That alone is worth at least $200k of his $650k per year

Interested to know whose idea it was to recruit Green and who got it across the line.

He kicked two 40/20s against us at Mt Smart last year. We'll have a bit of that said the Warriors management!

Green himself explained in an article on a different site (can't remember what it is but it is where players write articles) that he was off contract at Manly and wanted a 3 year deal. Presumably, the Warriors recruitment staff (which includes Kearney) peruse the list of off contract players and felt he was worth making an offer to. He wanted 3 years from Manly and would not have left if he got it but they wouldn't do it, we said if we offer you 3 years will you make the move (pending release from Manly) - rest is history.

I’ve underestimated him before - was under the radar at Melbourne.

I can see now the impact he had getting Manly into the eight and am very pleased with Rd1 here.

Will be interesting to see how DCE goes without him. Not a fan of DCE, bit slippery one thinks.

Mitchell Pearce was on the Matty Johns show and he said that DCE is a very similiar player to Johnson in that he is quite unstructured, plays what is in front of him.

Pearce said Green was a great foil for DCE and will be SJ.

Yeah saw that too. It will be interesting to see both with or without. I have SJ as a better all round player than DCE so Blake will have proven or disproven that theory by years end.

Funny aye, guess the difference is the Green isn’t beaten to shit and will actually be on the field most weeks and he’s … a normal person? Not distracted by 101 off field issues.

Plus I don’t really think they are the same player, Foran is a traditional take the line on half, his wide passing and kicking isn’t anything special, probably a better athlete than Green, scores more tries etc.

nevermind mate at least you put an opinion out there, we were all pretty excited after his debut. Green seems a more grounded character so I reckon he wont do a Foran.

Yuck, even I had something positive to say about Foran... I'm disgusted in myself!

I haven't seen it mentioned here, but early in the game Green kicked early in the count for a 40/20. Great play, just didn't come off that time. Great to see someone thinking on their feet, and having the vision to react intelligently.

Time will tell if he can do that consistently.

It will be interesting to see how defensively sound he is over the next few weeks too. Jury is still out on that for me.

    All good points.

What also interests me is how Green didn't let that failed 40/20 stop him taking another pop.....unlike SJ who after leading the NRL in 40/20's one season stopped as soon as he made two kicks out on the full.

Maybe now we can defend it SJ might get braver with his long game ( he certainly has the length and has shown glimpses of a hidden deadly kicker....remember the 1st ever nines when he was potting drop kick goals from the sideline ?).
