Interestingly Etene wasn't named to participate in the Brizzy 10s

Obviously the NZRU are not certain of the legal result..

    From David Skipwith

Etene-Nanai Seturo situation finally resolved between Warriors and NZR. As expected he's been released by Warriors.
Both parties established a new protocols which should prevent this situation happening again, each code will alert the other when a player wants to switch codes.

    Good outcome.

We don't want Union kids using the League code like a WINZ office In future.

( tongue in cheek people calm down).

No settlement for release of the contract though? Just new protocols between the two parties so this doesnt happen again?

Good luck to the kid though.

Terms are confidential, so there will be a financial stick in there for discouraging frequency..

So how does this new protocol work ?

Steve Hanson has to make a polite phone call to Kearney to prevent future misunderstandings ?

Shag here Mooks.....look young CNK wants to play sevens thanks ever so much...

If both parties follow this with good conscience then things are better for these young blokes, which is the main thing.

    Good that it's sorted.

The rules that they discussed will go both ways. That would help NZ Rugby with one NRL club good luck with the other 15.

Had to laugh at the NZHerald headline about union winning. If you have seen enough of these disputes the player usually ends up where he wants to go, so Nanai playing union was going to be the most likely scenario. The Warriors would of most likely got some sort of payout they felt happy enough to move on.

Setting a reasonable protocol is far more important than any type of payout I believe.

A little overated but some sour grapes too. Would be the best junior we had on the current warriors books?

One thing around this. The club is often criticised about missing out on the key talents who end up at aussie clubs. Guys like SBW or RTS even guys lower than that level. He is a case the club got the guy on their books. Ok he is moving on and if the club was doing better on the field it may have been more appealing to stay. But the club managed to scout the right talent.

Would have been financial compensation for sure. Warriors invested a lot of money into that kid. You don't take that shit lying down.

Good luck to the kid. From what I heard he's signed a $100K 7s contract and been guaranteed a Commonwealth Games spot...

Hope he enjoys his new path as it sounds very exciting. On the flip side he can always come back.

This agreement work new protocols sounds promising, with a new recruitment officer (Sullivan) coming on board the management are being proactive to protect their interests.

Can't keep them all but we can make it financial disingenuous to third parties looking to poach our future stocks.. Christian Tuipolotu

    Player retention.
