League fans are being asked to bail out Eden Park, which is cash-strapped and weighed down by debt in the wake of the Rugby World Cup's euphoria.
The cup's legacy is a 50,000-seat stadium $55 million in debt and struggling to break even and the plan is to move the Warriors from Mt Smart Stadium to Eden Park.
Based on this year's figures, about 96,000 league fans could pour through the gates for eight home games at Eden Park from 2014.
The proposed move is part of a review of Auckland stadiums that focuses strongly on saving money and pays little attention to the effect on the sporting codes and their fans.
A "strategic direction" for the city's big stadiums proposes that Eden Park becomes the primary venue for rugby, league, one-day and 20/20 cricket matches.

Has anyone heard of the Warriors preseason schedule? I have heard a couple a times now a pre-season game in Dunedin mentioned. from the article below it might be gaining momentum.
BRISBANE Broncos players may have to dodge toga parties, burning couches and student riots next February, with the club negotiating to play a trial against New Zealand Warriors in university town Dunedin.
Broncos commercial operations manager Terry Reader travelled to the city at the bottom of New Zealand's South Island recently to hold talks with management of the 30,000-seat Forsyth Barr Stadium, which was rebuilt for the Rugby World Cup and has a transparent roof.
Went to the Kings Arms tonight for my regular Monday night music quiz and the Warriors were there on the piss big time. Some of them were clearly a little worse for wear but given their year thats understandable. Some of the guys had gone to the trouble of dressing up in costumes.I would have taken photos but probably would not have left the bar alive given what some of them were wearing.Pretty sure it was Elijah Taylor dressed as Captain American - full blown costume complete with mask & sheild.Nathan Friend seemed more interested in betting on the greyhound racing from Aussie with Captain Mannering while James Maloney seemed to tackling a number of bourbon and coke rtd's
Well that was horrible.
A couple of things are evident following our abject displays this year
-Bluey was clearly the wrong man for the biggest job in NZ League
-We have to get fitter next year. It was clear early on that we weren't as fit as other teams.
-We can't rely on the Jnrs to fill our team. Whilst they have been great, the guys promoted this year haven't been up to it. I'm talking about Hurrell - can't defend. Henry- I think he'll become a good first grade player but he needs a position. If he's a back rower he needs to make more of an impact or his career will be very short.
-The NRL contract situation needs to be mended. Having players in your team hove signed elsewhere for the next year has been shown this year to be a nightmare. Maloney checked out ages ago. Brown has...

After a freak training accident, Toki, our mascot decided to hang up the boots quite a while ago to spend more time with his kids. We haven’t had a mascot since but now the Vodafone Warriors are looking for a new one for the 2013 season! We’re calling all members and supporters to have their say on the next Vodafone Warriors mascot. If you have any good ideas, concepts or artwork send them to firstname.lastname@example.org or simply send us a private message via Facebook.
Lets put all ideas here for a new mascot. And once we agree on one - we'll get a smart cookie to draw him up. Who's keen??
Normal breakfast routine, coffee and listen to Vietchy.
Latest rumour/story is Shuan Johnson being touted as moving to rugby sevens and getting into the Olympics.
Just a rumour or something in it? If true, should he dropped now and the Warrior develop or import another halfback?
Will there be an online card to sign for farewelling both Michael luck & James Maloney & maybe other people leaving the Warriors.
Its the last home game next week so I was thinking that something may be available soon .
I remember that in the past we done a few farewell cards etc on the old fan website.
Vodafone Warriors hooker Alehana Mara and front rower Ukuma Ta’ai have been recalled to replace the injured Nathan Friend and Steve Rapira for Saturday night’s 25th-round NRL clash against St George Illawarra at WIN Stadium in Wollongong (5.30pm kick-off local time).
Hooker Friend was forced off 27 minutes into last Sunday’s match against Penrith after dislocating his right shoulder. A decision is yet to be made whether he requires surgery.
Rapira, making only his second appearance at home, has a tear in his right hamstring which is set to keep him out of not just this match against the Dragons but also the season finale against Canberra on Sunday, September 2.
Pita Godinet, who was used off the bench to replace Friend against the Panthers, starts at hooker on Saturday night with...
BRIAN McCLENNAN AND VODAFONE WARRIORS AGREE TO PART WAYS
The Vodafone Warriors and head coach Brian McClennan have mutually agreed for him to leave the club with assistant coach Tony Iro taking over for the last two matches of the 2012 NRL season. While McClennan was contracted until the end of the 2013 season, Vodafone Warriors chief executive Wayne Scurrah said both parties had agreed on an early release in the best interests of the club.
He said Iro would take over the coaching role on an interim basis from today to prepare the Vodafone Warriors for their final regular season matches against St George Illawarra on Saturday night (August 25) and Canberra on Sunday, September 2.
McClennan, appointed Vodafone Warriors head coach last August, was ‘very disappointed’ his tenure...
Immediately after today's game I threw a wooden spoon on the field at Mt Smart after our loss to Penrith (Eastern Stand down near the goal line Northern end)... serious no joke. The security guy didnt even remove it hopefully a club official does that.
The club now has to take some action!
We've got 10 season tickets and they'll only be 2 of us there today. Friends who have season tickets are in similar positions as they're gutted with the performance this year.
In fact, this shouldn't have a prefix, this ISN'T a rumour.
My source tells me that Konrad revealed to him that he was dropped to the Vulcans for the weekend. However, the PR team nor the senior players knew anything of his omission when asked. Bluey was also asked, but he said he didn't want to talk about it.
It seems the club is in disarray, with no one in the loop - selection wise.
Anyone hear Kearney on Radio Sport this morning.
