An admission from the Warriors that they may have taken the club development too far.
Languishing in 13th place on the NRL ladder and all but out of finals contention, the Warriors are doing plenty of soul-searching as they look back on the season.
CEO Wayne Scurrah admits they lacked experience with a number of senior players out injured.
"That's one of the learnings from the year is looking back and saying well, we bought seven players, three from the junior ranks, and we already had a reasonably young squad. Was that a big step?"
Scurrah says they are looking at their options to add experience ahead of the 2013 season.
So who is available?
Apparently we are...

Carlos and Sean know each other's games backwards, you would know if a couple of weeks if it works or if its distastrous.
I feel for poor little Billy Toupo, but he aint a winger (but then again, neither is Slimey?)
What is he doing next season?
I hear rumours of him signing with souths but now looking at Rebels and Japanese Rugby.
I say get rid of him.
If we are pushing on to the last couple rounds of the season, either announce his signing.
or get rid of him as he is just holding up development spots for other juniors.
Ackland has made him into a superstar...If I was his coach, I would coach the big-headed self-fishness out of of his game, not feed it.
He comes down to juniors he plays so blaise, I wouldnt be suprised if he one of least like players in the 20s.
They had a tap penalty about 6m out from sharks, rightfully havili comes to grab the ball - gets pushed back from Omar a few times. Just for Omar to ignore and go for some stupid bargeover attempt.
Havili should of put him in his...
2012 is now gone (yeah, yeah, mathematical blah blah). I have little belief that 2013 will be much better, but we can hope (seems about all we can do). Anyway, these are what I believe the 3 biggest problems with the Warriors were in 2012.
1. No cohesion in defence - They say defence is all about attitude... but that's not exactly true. While I attitude may have been poor at times (particularly, not enough urgency around the ruck) I think there are other major problems with the Warriors D. Firstly, the inconsistent mixture of up-and-in and slide defence doesn't seem to work for us. The problems here is that the teams doesn't operate in unison. Some go further forward than others, others are slow to move up and when they slide there seems to be no trust in the inside and outside man so...
So if we lose two more games even the mathamatical chance of the semis is gone. If this happens do we continue to pick Maloney? If it happens I think either Carlos lor Pita have to be given game time. I just have a sneaking suspicion that we won't be that ruthless. Remember when Bennett dropped Hodges to the feeder club cos he has signed with the Roosters?
Vodafone Warriors stand-in captain Manu Vatuvei is eyeing history, Nathan Friend will make his 150th career appearance and Carlos Tuimavave his first in Sunday’s 22nd-round NRL clash against Cronulla at Mount Smart Stadium (2.00pm kick-off local time).
With regular skipper Simon Mannering not yet fully recovered from an ankle injury, Vatuvei (26) will again lead the Vodafone Warriors in his 148th appearance, one which could create an NRL first.
After scoring his 99th try last weekend, the giant winger will have a chance in front of Vodafone Warriors members and fans on Sunday to become the first player to score 100 NRL tries for the club.
Two other players – the oldest in the squad and the youngest – will both achieve key milestones.
Hooker Friend (31) will reach the 150-game mark in...
which of the missing 2011 squad do you think could of had a positive impact on this years side
If you were the coach, what players would you ask owen to get for 2013 or 2014 and why?
Also what players would you get rid of whose contracts are over 2013 or 2014.
IMO if we have a guy like Owen whos vision is for the Warriors to be a very successful club I would be making a list of players that I would want. Perrett would have been a great buy and I think the Warriors had the $ but didnt make a play for him. Hasler is a mastermind with buying Inu & Perrett and its paying off bigtime.
I dont personally think Bluey is that smart or hes to stubborn to realise when hes wrong.
All in all if I was coach and had an owner who was like "who do you want" I'd be licking my lips and be writing down lists....
I know this season hasn't finished but how do you feel the Warriors will go next season? Dane Nielsen and Thomas leuluai being our only signings so far - I think Thomas Leuluai is a good super league player but he is no Maloney and do think he will struggle at NRL Standard. Nielsen is solid (better then Benry) but not special , perhaps one of the less quality players to put on the Queensland Jersey. I think for the Warriors to be a force next year we will need much better signings because I'm predicting us not to make the 8. But then again anything could happen.
Captain Simon Mannering will miss his first NRL match in more than two years after being ruled out of the Vodafone Warriors’ trip to Perth for their 21st-round clash against Manly at Patersons Stadium on Saturday (5.30pm kick-off local time).
Mannering injured his right ankle late in last Saturday night’s 19-24 loss to Newcastle at Mount Smart Stadium.
While the 164-game veteran is out of contention this week medical staff are optimistic he’ll return for the 22nd-round encounter with Cronulla at Mount Smart Stadium for this game.
His absence has resulted in a career first for winger Manu Vatuvei who has been named to lead the side in what will be his 147th appearance as he comes back after missing the Newcastle game with a hamstring injury.
“We’re satisfied Simon isn’t seriously...
OK, looking at the ladder, we will still be on 9th after this week. If Canberra win today there will be 5 teams on 20 points but we are in front because of our for and against. We have every chance of making the 8 at least 5 or 6 if results go our way.
How are we gonna do it? Win
Do we have faith? I have
Do we have the right team to do it? I think so
Chin up guys we can still do it in 2012
He is okay on his best of days. Be imo he is not a centre!! Put him at lock and I believe he will be more effective but Benry is just not strong and fast enough to do damage on attack and is below par when it comes to his defense. We need a centre who looks like a centre.
Had a shocker. Not ready for the top level yet. Defensively was poor and made minimal yardage.
Disclaimer: I am referring to our coach as Shitlennan, but I am being honest and serious with this post. It is not a troll. Feel free to call him whatever you want, this is just the name I will be calling him.
Personally I feel that no, he is not. Will post more in depth thoughts later, wanted to get maximum feedback by poster the question now, though.
The guy is an awesome player but I find him lazy after tackles he makes, hes easy to go down after being tackled and hes always injured during the game? If hes not 100% fit then imagine the damage he will do when he is. As our form centre alot of responsibility will fall on his shoulders
