Konrad Hurrell and Dominique Peyroux have been recalled for the Vodafone Warriors’ ninth-round NRL encounter with the Cronulla Sharks at Remondis Stadium on Saturday (5.30pm kick-off local time; 7.30pm NZT).

After missing the club’s 28-32 Anzac Day loss to Gold Coast, Hurrell and Peyroux were among six Vodafone Warriors players involved in last Saturday’s Pacific Test between Mate Ma’a Tonga and Toa Samoa in Robina.

Peyroux, used off the interchange bench, scored the Samoans’ final try in their 18-16 win on a night when he made 99 metres from seven runs as well as 23 tackles. Hurrell also made a big impact for the Tongans with 119 metres from 11 carries. Hurrell’s Tongan team-mates Tuimoala Lolohea and Solomone Kata will again start against the Sharks while Tongan front rower Albert Vete has been named on a five-man bench along with Peyroux’s Samoan team-mate Sam Lisone.

The Pacific Test sextet feature in a Vodafone Warriors line-up including five members of the Kiwis’ triumphant Anzac Test side, captain Simon Mannering, wing Manu Vatuvei, halfback Shaun Johnson, prop Ben Matulino and hooker Thomas Leuluai all contributing to the first Anzac Test win since 1998 (the first in Australia and only the second in history).

The 29-year-old Vatuvei, enjoying one of best seasons of his career, was awarded the Charles Savory Medal for his two-try man of the match performance at Suncorp Stadium. He has now scored a total of eight tries in nine matches so far this season including his six in eight NRL games.
Vodafone Warriors assistant coach and Kiwi selector Tony Iro was elated with the efforts from the club’s players involved in the weekend’s internationals.

“To have 11 players involved in those two Tests was something really special for the club and I thought they were all terrific,” he said. “Our five Kiwi boys were great in an outstanding win and the six players involved in the match between Samoa and Tonga also impressed especially Dom, Sol and Albie. Dom basically won the game for Samoa and has given us a lot of energy and aggression the times he has played for us previously this season.

“Koni was also really solid and he comes back into the side with more game time behind him. It’s fair to say we probably rushed him back a bit too quickly initially but he has now had a game for our New South Wales Cup side and for Tonga.”

Hurrell is reunited in the centres with rookie Kata, coming in for David Fusitua. Fusitua is set to start in the centres in the NSW Cup this weekend.

For the eighth consecutive match the Vodafone Warriors will use the same starting pack on Saturday in what will be the club’s 499th name since entering the competition in 1995. Kiwi heroes Mannering, Matulino and Leuluai team up with the seasoned Ryan Hoffman, Jacob Lillyman and Bodene Thompson, the latter moving within six games of his 100th appearance.
Facing his old club Cronulla, Jonathan Wright plays his 99th NRL game leaving him in line to reach his 100th a week later in the Vodafone Warriors’ 500th game when they face Parramatta at Pirtek Stadium.

The Vodafone Warriors (13th) and Cronulla (14th) have identical records after eight rounds – three wins and five losses – but the Sharks have better recent form with their three wins all coming in the last four rounds. The ladder is congested with just two points covering 11 teams from fifth through to 15th.

Interesting to see that Sammy Raps comes off the bench ahead of Vete. It sure won't do Vete any harm by having a break.
Rest of the team pretty much as expected. Give us a win boys.

Great to see Dom make the team. Showed plenty of pace and put on a great step to score in the Samoa V Tonga game.

Disappointed that Tomkins is still not available. We need him back on the field ASAP to help guide this team around.

I hope it is Friend who becomes 18th Man. Will we ever see our top side run out this year? Top side as couch coaches top side.

Not sure what we're trying to achieve turning Fusitua into a centre. Hope it works, but whenever I've seen him play he just screams natural winger. Should be working on his wing defense, not trying to convert to another position. We have enough players as it is learning as they go.

The problem is that Cappy will only play Dom for 10min in the 2nd half to give the Keptin a rest.

I like Dom but having him on the bench is a waste of a bench spot. Put him in for Wright and move Vete to the bench looks a whole lot better.

I agree with that, but in fairness to Wright he hasn't done anything wrong.

Nah I'm a Dom fan, he's never had a bad game in FG and in all honesty I would have had him playing ahead of Neilson from almost day one.

Not surprising. Dom was the best on park for Samoa. Konnie looked to show more effort defensively. Albie back to an extended bench as he was terrific too.

I think it's the best 17 all injuries considered. Hopefully we drop Tui running sweep plays, get him going nice and direct and let SJ get as loose as a $5 sucky sucky girl.

Lets be honest, Benry/Peyroux are only there in case Hurrell breaks down.
It's a shame waste of a bench spot.

What is it that people see in Peyroux that I'm missing. He really looks like a fringe first grader with no real position, a jack of all trades master of none. He brings some energy but I'd much prefer for him to drop off the bench and Vete to play to bring some muscle in a short stint.
Picking a bench player just in case another guy gets knocked is a smart move if someone gets stretchered off but if no one gets stretchered off its a waste of space.
We have to wear teams down by bending the line in the middle of the park and getting quick play the balls.
I really do not believe that Peyroux will help us to win games as much as Vete will.
In saying that, best of luck to what ever 17 plays and I hope we win but if we lose to another average team this week, we'll have to question Cappy's game plan by picking an undersized bench every week.

Lolohea's played well in patches but hasn't really taken games by the scruff, he looks sharp at times but he's too in and out of games for mind. For all his potential he needs to produce a big game.. his support play has dropped off and he's not vocal enough for my liking.. It's all well and good running your mouth at Johnson after he throws a bad pass but he needs to be more vocal in directing our defensive line that's where he's letting the team down.

Wright has been safe as houses under the high ball but his positioning one on one is horrendous.. plenty of times he's been stood up clutching at thin air. Agility and pace off the mark are Wright's weaknesses that's why he's targeted mercilessly by opposition. I'd look at Fusitua as the alternative option if Wright keeps failing but then again Fusitua's defence doesn't fill me with much confidence either.

Time for Konnie to man up.. sick of seeing players out of position in the centres because this fella can't get his shit together.. He's used up all his excuses now it's time to deliver a decent performance and quit with all the antics you're a professional league player not a farkin kid out of high school

Thompson needs to show much more too I've been an advocate and backed him but he needs to show more aggro and intensity, harder ball carries.. can't just get by on reputation no more, he needs a big game or I'd drop him and start Faitala-Mariner.. Thompson has underwhelmed to say the least.

McFadden needs to let Johnson take more control.. I want to see Johnson with the ball on the final plays he's our playmaker and most threatening option so utilize him as often as possible and Friend needs to pass him the farkin ball not purposefully look and go the other way when the option's not on.

I would put Peyroux in Konis spot.
Koni did sfa in the Tonga -Samoa game, sure he didnt get the ball his way much ........but he never went looking, whereas Kata was proactive.

Peyroux is a worker and he plays with enthusiasm and energy. That can be infectious, just like knocking the ball on as all our other centres have been doing.

I don't know if he would be better but I would like to see him get a run. I agree that its a waste of a bench spot but there really isn't any other option to cover the outside backs is there? Its not injury cover, its butters cover

I like the team apart from that ass Wright still on the wing but there's no choice. Is Fish hurt again?!

Dreamers still relying on the same idiots to deliver a win never mind a Premiership. Still a lot of work to do and it seems the franchise and its fans haven't learnt much in 20 years.
