    YOUR TEAM | v Roosters
    Tue 14th July, 04:54PM
Shaun Johnson returns to where it all started when he makes his 100th NRL appearance in the Vodafone Warriors’ 19th-round NRL encounter with the Sydney Roosters at Allianz Stadium on Sunday (2.00pm kick-off local time, 4.00pm NZT).

Now 24, he made his debut there as a 20-year-old in a 6-13 loss to the Roosters on June 04, 2011 going on to appear in the grand final in his rookie season.

Johnson teams up in the halves with Chad Townsend for the 17th consecutive time this season when the fourth-placed Vodafone Warriors take on a Roosters side two points ahead of them in third place.

Johnson becomes the 23rd player to appear in 100 games for the club and the first since prop Jacob Lillyman made his 100th appearance in the final game of the 2013 season.

Johnson was outstanding in Sunday’s 28-14 win over Melbourne, a record winning margin in matches against the Storm at Mount Smart Stadium.

Apart from scoring a stunning try and having a key hand in the side’s other four tries, he made a game-high 213 metres from 15 runs, had eight tackle breaks, two line breaks and two line break assists while also making 17 tackles without a miss.

With four goals he took his career tally to 538 points including 44 tries. He is now closing in on third spot on the club’s all-time points-scoring list, nine points behind former halves partner and now Roosters opponent James Maloney (547). Ahead of them are Manu Vatuvei (584) and Stacey Jones (674).
Vodafone Warriors head coach Andrew McFadden has today named the same line-up fielded against Melbourne with veteran prop Sam Rapira on a five-man bench. Wing Manu Vatuvei (shoulder), centre Konrad Hurrell (shoulder) and second rower Ryan Hoffman (calf) are still on the injured list with Vatuvei and Hurrell targeted to return for the July 25 home game against Manly and Hoffman on track to be available for August 1 home game against Cronulla.

With three consecutive wins for the second time this season – and six from their last eight games – the Vodafone Warriors have climbed into the rare position of being inside the NRL’s top four. The last time they were in the top tier was 89 games ago after the 24th round in their grand final season in 2011; it was the only week they were in the top four that season.

Indeed the Vodafone Warriors have been among the leading four teams for just three weeks since 2007. The other two occasions were in the opening rounds of the 2009 and 2010 campaigns; they were first at the end of round two in 2009 (after winning their first two matches of the season) and fourth after round three in 2010.

While I have no arguments with the reluctance to tamper with a winning side, does anybody know what the story is with Sam Lisone?I would've thought he'd have been 18th man seeing as Cappy's gone with a front rower.

Sam Rapira into the side over Havili need to maintain that go forward once Lillyman and Matulino go off.

Really looking forward to this game, this is the game where the team makes a statement. Time to make all those nuffies in Australia stand up and take notice, this team is legit. Bring it on, Sunday can't come fast enough.

18th man is just going to tag along, be around the boys and play last minute if necessary. Better to use the guy who is a veteran and won't be at the club next year and let Lisone develop in the NSW Cup.

Shit I forgot all about that. He was limping around Mt Smart on Sunday wearing a moon boot. Think it was his right leg...

I will be stoked if we give the Roosters no easy chances this weekend. Their back line is the best in the comp. They don't need an invitation to score. Especially with SKD performing better than I've seen him play in a long time, and Ferguson coming into form.

Not only is their back line a cause for concern but their bench looks like it will provide some scary impact when they come on. I'm actually glad Gubb will be on our bench over Lisone (even before finding out he was injured) because we can't afford to revert to arm grabbing tackles like the last time we played them. The likes of Taukeiaho would just rip us apart otherwise.

I hope our placement kicks target Tupou. The roosters don't really have a weakness in them to exploit. But his piss poor kickreturns should hopefully help us win the battle for momentum. Really though, you'd have to be arrogant or foolish not to be worried about this game.

A fit Sam Rapira is a definite upgrade to our pack... That's three of the old oresom foursome rotation of masturbation... Throw in Vete and we're pretty solid up the guts...

Edge defence and scramble will win this one again...

Containing their forwards will give us an opportunity to win this one. Exactly where we lost it last time we played them. They rolled through us in that second half and we were always on the back foot.

I think with Gubb and Mannering both hitting top form on defense we'll be a lot more solid through the middle. And Rapira is quality on d as well.. So we're a much stronger unit through the middle than we were back then... If we play to our strengths we can take this game away from them...

Apparently Shaun AND Simon got injured at training:

Zero chance of winning if those two are out...

On a plus side, we might see Tui get his crack in the halves...

Hopefully we slice and dice through Maloney as well, hes leading the missed tackle count with 71.

Will be a tough game to win, the Roosters are stacked across the park.

Limit our errors, parity in the middle, and a bit of Johnson magic should hopefully get us a very important 2 points.
