You're right on all accounts, but particularly in regards to Blake. He's had a few shockers, but for the most part, has been one of our best value / most consistent players since he arrived. I'm not a blind fan, but I definitely think there is a place for him in our backline. I'd take him on the wing over Maumalo, who while he's improved a lot, clearly isn't a back.

For me it all comes down to Merit. If Ayshford kicks ass and is one of our best centers next year he plays. If he's no.3 in line he misses out. Simple as that.

If Kata somehow becomes our best center then he plays. I don't think he will, but good for him if he does. I'd enjoy watching him kick ass.

We really need to get away from tribal like allegiances and treat every player separately, solely on their own merits and current form, and what they can add to the team.

I'd hate it if we become a NZ-centric team where our Aussies can't get a look in, even if they are playing better footy.

In saying that Hiku brings depth to the back line, which is awesome for all of us fans...

Peta Hiku has a chronic knee injury which is why he was let go without much of a fuss? Uh oh!

He tore his ACL and MCL at the same time last year to end his season, so it's not out of the realm of possibility

He still managed 9 games for the panthers this year, running over 100m in 6 of them. Also played 9 games for far for the Wolves. But if he does have knee issues, then a 3 year deal may have been a mistake.

"Wolves were happy to let Hiku go - because he has a chronic knee problem and did little to impress in his short stint at the club."

judging by the statement the wolves made and the fact he was motm in one of their games id say he did a lot to impress, lurker's defs full of it

Also based off a few supporter comments where they seemed happy with how he's going, I'd say you're right. But then again - it's the fucking Lurker.

if what budge said is true we'd be getting him cheap so it's not like there'd be a lot of cap wasting away on the sideline if he does get injured

If he played 9 games for the Panthers along with 8 games for Warrington this year. That isn't a bad return from coming of major knee surgery.

Man all I can say with these signings is all I read is alot of ifs. All I hope for is they put those boots on and play like hard arse league players and Hiku is not going to be one of these come home boys we will care for you players.

You mean in not fucking up his game?

He was pretty handy when he arrived - i was actually a fan when he played for the Tiggies but I've see very little to no improvement in his game since he's been here

People talk about the lack of development coming through but whats worst is the lack of progression within the premier team itself

Stephen - take note when you next use that excuse at your presser.

    Play Peta in position
    Get him fit
    Manage the knee if required
    Give him confidence
Then all will be G town

Knee injuries require a lot of gym work to strengthen the muscles around that area. During that process confidence needs to be built up, otherwise the player gets windy about physical commitment, not just contact. The problem with knees is with age, like over 50, then they are a genuine problem. If Hiku does his gym work and is managed properly he should be just fine.

Blake's impact is in the players that play outside him. Lolohea and Fusitua became better wingers for it.

It did seem strange that Warrington were prepared to let him go quickly, but I put that down to the fact it's since been announced Tony Smith is leaving the Wire at the end of the season

Good morning brother, off to work soon? Is Maguire replacing him or somebody else?
