A team that needs a good defender at fullback isn't much of a team. RTS is just fine in what he does, and when the young forwards start to improve their go forward he will get even better.
Where is he going to fit into the All Blacks? Now they REALLY have a backline, and I am not a union fan.

Pretty amazing Slater can still do this at his age after what close to 2 seasons out? Let's be real, leaving him off Origin 1 was farcical and he's showing what he can do with 2 years out of the game, reminds me of Andrew Johns coming back in 05 in terms of how they were able to get back to close to their best in their early to mid 30s despite so long out. It's immortal level stuff.

Would happily trade RTS for Milner-Skudder any day of the week.

Milner Skudder couldn't make it at the Dogs. I was meaning more the likes of Ben Smith and Beauden Barrett. I cannot see RTS leaving the club unless there is a real meltdown.

STORM skipper Cameron Smith (AKA 3rd ref) leads the prestigious Dally M Medal count by five points with voting to go behind closed doors from Round 15 this weekend.

Smith, who last claimed the Dally M in 2006, is on track to add another medal to his already bulging trophy cabinet.

Rejuvenated Roosters and Mighty NSW Mighty Blues halfback Mitchell Pearce is locked in second position on 15 points alongside former teammate Roger Tuivasa-Sheck, who has rediscovered his finest form at the Warriors.

Billy Slater is right up his ass with 13 points.. Hopefully Slater and Smith take each others points..

Then RTS can get a tonne of points as the Warriors win 10 in a row to cement a Top 6 finish and RTS Dally M fullback of the year!

Kearney claimed that RTS will remain as captain of the side despite the impending arrival of Blair next year. Thoughts?

Happy with his captaincy? Not burdening his role? Was it the right move to appoint him captain this year? And...was it simply a carrot offered by the club to retain him beyond his curent deal?

Been the Capt hasn't improved him as a player. Hard to know if that's the captaincy or playing in a team
who perform poorly most weeks. He was an absolute gun at the Roosters and if he had stayed there's no way he would have ever been captain

He stuck his hand up to take the job when no one else wanted it and played his heart out all season so I couldn't take it off him.

    it's a no brainer

Who would want to win premierships when you can lock in the captaincy of the greatest sporting franchise in Australasia?

That GSF phrase still makes me cringe!!!!

It was to early for him to be offered the captaincy - but no one else wanted to drink from that poisoned chalice!!!!

He's had a year to learn the ropes. Next year he'll be better at it.

There's always that possibility. I believe a lot of it will come down to how the club performs next year. If we finish bottom 8, then I wouldn't be surprised if RTS looks elsewhere. Despite his defensive deficiencies, he's still one of the best running/ball playing FB's going around.

I would think if we have a similar season next year and is offered a bigger contract elsewhere, why wouldn't he go
He left the Roosters because we offered him a lot more dough, didn't he? All the talk of coming home to be close to family etc. Would have he come home if we have offered him less that what the Roosters were prepared to pay.
