The Warriors need to learn the lesson of Manu and Hoffman.

4 years for Blair would be a crazy deal.

I'm interested to know how close to the salary cap limit is the Warriors.

Blair(tigers version) for 4 years on you'd have to assume 800 or over. Is quite possibly the stupidest thing i've ever heard, quite inline with james(thoroughly on the downhill) graham who would be 1milish. Hell we're really doing it tough to pay that much for reasonable props on the wrong side of 30.

    NRL CLUBS' CAP HYSTERIA

FROM THE DAILY TELEGRAPH'S SPORT CONFIDENTIAL COLUMN:

CLUBS which have over-budgeted on next year’s salary cap are in a panic as they look to shed talent.

They have stepped up the awkward conversations with player managers in recent weeks as they look to chop significant numbers from next year’s rosters.

Some clubs budgeted for a $10 million salary cap for next year, but that number is set to come in significantly under. Some clubs have budgeted for more than the salary cap is proposed to be — about $9.2 million.

One leading player agent said his phone had been ringing “off the hook”.

“There are some scared souls out there,” the manager said.

“Clubs are really starting to panic, knowing they need to move players on.

“It is going to get messy. The next few weeks it is really going to hot up. I’ve only told my boys to stand their ground.”

The NRL has promised to show no mercy on clubs which incorrectly budgeted.

They have all been warned they need to be salary cap compliant by the time round one starts next year.

Some clubs are watching with interest.

“I tried to offer up one of my players to a club,” the manager said.

“They are super keen but they want to sit and wait.

“They know that his current club needs to shed players so they will get him cheap, forcing his current club to pick up most of the tab. But that still isn’t sustainable.”

If we pay overs for Adam Blair, for 4 years, with him being 35 in his last year,,,, DURING THE GREATEST PLAYER LOLLY SCRAMBLE IN THE HISTORY OF THE NRL, then there truly is no hope for this club.

But if we got him for a bargain price for 2 years..............

Come on home Adam. We miss you.

I think if he leaves the NRL then he's off our books...

Such a clusterfuck. I realise this MAY benefit us and Clubs should be penalised, but the NRL have ROYALLY fucked everything up by finalising the cap so incredibly late.

This is a fucking embarrassment for rugby league and heads should (won't) roll.

A front loaded deal for Blair wouldn't be so bad

The only thing worse would replicating Jason Taumalolo's deal of 10years for 10 million on Graham.

    1) Blair would be 36 at the end of his last year on a four year deal.

    2) We're not offering a four year deal.

    3) Lolly Scramble is a very apt saying.

I can't see us getting any bargains. Players that don't want to move here won't unless we offer them big bucks.
The players themselves have to have a reason to move from the clubs they are at. A club just can't tell a player to leave because they are over the cap.
What I think may happen is players that wouldn't have considered us will second think their choices. Basically what's happening with Blair. He's seeing a 4 year deal with us as a pretty nice retirement package.

The NRL not registering your contract seems a bloody good reason
More like a drug bust and the naughty clubs are scrambling to flush the coke down the loo..
It's quite plausible we are the best option for the non compliant, salary cap rorting clubs' bailout. If there as many as 11 clubs over how many from the remaining 5 clubs have space in the cap to absorb the amount of players and/or some portion of these overblown contracts.

Honestly, it really wouldn't surprise me if he's been lying in wait, planning for this the whole time.

If we can get a James Graham toe out of this situation... well, it'll get my interest for next season at least.

This is going to get very interesting..... if you were a player at the Doggies and you'd signed your contract before this year, how are you going to feel if the Club says to you that they still want Woods and Foran to be there next year so in order for you to stay there, you have to agree to a pay cut. Are you going to consider staying with the Doggies if say GODoyle is offering what you're on now or more money to go to Auckland.

Months ago, when people were saying why wasn't the club spending up to the projected salary cap, I said what would you rather happen: us being forced to get rid of high value players to get under the salary cap or play a longer game and see what happens when other clubs over spend?

Personally, I like the idea of being a vulture more than being the carcass!!!

A James Graham deal of 2 years for $2m would be bad enough! He's not worth close to that sort of coin these days.

Dogs, Raiders, Panthers, Roosters, Cowboys are the ones mentioned most.

Broncos highly likely considering they still have to re-sign Boyd and maybe Kahu.

Storm - depends on which contracts you're looking at, but they're yet to re-sign Slater and have Cronk leaving.

    Tigers/Knights/Warriors almost definitely under.

That leaves Souths/Manly/Dragons/Sharks/Titans/Eels with Manly/Sharks most likely to be over IMO.
