Gubb City is born – 2013
After being moved on from the Warriors only a few years earlier, prop Charlie Gubb returned to the Kiwi club and finally got his chance in the big time in Round 17 of season 2013.
Russell Packer was a late withdrawal with a hamstring injury, which saw Gubb promoted ahead of fellow up-and-comer Suaia Matagi.
He came off the bench wearing jersey No.21 to become Warrior #183, doing so on the longest road trip in the NRL, with the Warriors travelling to take on the Rabbitohs in Perth.
Leading 13-6 at half-time it was all looking rosy for the Gubb and his teammates, but a horror second half where they leaked 24 unanswered points, same them lose 30-13.

Gubb quickly became to be a fan favourite in Auckland, picking up the moniker ‘Gubb City’ and standing out with his abrasive defensive style.
These days he is a regular on the bench for the NRL side.
