Press conference gave zero insight in what the issues are… other than they went off script at the end? Not sure what the script is as they have done the same thing over and over again for weeks!
Downgrading my estimation of Webbys intelligence. Even if hes playing the long game, not playing the young fellas tells them you dont trust them.

Abit of a nothing BS press conference if we’re being honest Andrew

looked much more flustered this time round… feelin’ the pressure me thinks

Summary
Lacked Discipline - offside a lot
Too much piggyback given away
We had enough ball to win
Boys are trying but not doing it together

Prep was good 10 day turnaround - learn recover good energy

But Newcastle real good
We are not good enough
Discipline is off
Not Clinical
Long game good last year - don’t have it

We are Honest
We Talk
We Learn
We Get better
In it together
Confidence low
Honest with ourselves….

Shut the gates. Season is over.

Mate, we were absolutely awful the first 15min.

We are getting worse, not better. Confidence is being sucked out of this squad.

Bet RTS must be feeling a little duped by agreeing to join the old band by SJ and Tohu. All that Yen would be looking pretty good in his bank account right now.
I didn't say we were better. Basically the weather helped even it out and the Knights weren't great either. So it was harder to judge compared to the last few weeks.

We had poor periods in the Dragons and Knights games as well which resulted in points.

Like I said at a quick glance. IE a casual person just looking at the scores would just see that it was closer. Or would think we defended better. Again the weather made it harder to judge overall as it meant more mistakes and both sides didn't really have any great shape to their attack due to the conditions.

Interesting this next game between the Sharks and Dragons in wet weather has been pretty similar so far. How we go against the in form Roosters in hopefully better conditions will be the defining moment for the season.

As much as I despise Ricky Stuart, there are some glaring differences where he shows how much of a rookie Webby is. Not even close to Sack Webby but fuck he better learn ASAP or 2025 is going to be a struggle too.

That press conference was the same old.

The frustrating thing for me is Webby still seems to be sticking by the kick deep and pin them strategy, and lamenting the teams discipline to give the leg ups.

I've banged on about it a bit, but imo the way that NRL games are governed make that an entirely flawed tactic. Refs are going to look for the leg ups in the first 30 minutes of a game, it is as regular as clockwork. The game will be refereed the same way next week, and the week after.

The game plan would be better to be focused on enterprising, proactive play in the first half, before reverting to the Webby tactic in the second half when the ref puts the whistle away.

All we are doing is giving up territory and tackling ourselves to a standstill in the middle of the game. Offloads, 40/20s off early kicks, a varied kicking game, more ball movement. Change that first half up....please! It might not work, as we have a slow, aging side without a lot of x-factor, but we are just playing into the oppositions hands with the game plan as it is.

Even if we got it evened up late. Or we scored out wide and needed another one. We can't create space to make breaks or really get anyone that can break a tackle or do something from deep.

Meant when we were chasing points I wasn't confident. We basically need to get to the opposition 20 to look dangerous.

AW needs to own this.
The game plan is terrible and predictable.
We should have been going into the next round with a ‘ we have not been great but we are 6th, instead we are a shambles and closer to 16th.
Going into this round our most threatening offloaded was a winger.
The roster has enough quality across the field to be a threat.
Switch it up and vary the attacking threats.

What injury did Capewell just come back from?

Asking to see if this ankle/calf is a repeat. The fact we can't get him on the field consistently is a worry. Also wondering if we brought him back too early.
Last week was a throat injury.

He seems to be made of glass, he's had injuries to just about every body part in his extremely limited time with us. Turning out to be a dud pickup.

Warriors Change Name
Everyone I have spoken to in the last hour confirms it.
The NZ Warriors have changed their name back to what it used to be before last year.
If what I am hearing is correct, then it seems that effective immediately they will again be known as the Fucken Warriors until something changes.

This would have been the perfect game to do some variety in the kicking game. Or to use Martin more. Kick some grubbers into the in goal or along the ground would have been a start.

The kick down the right and jam the opposition in seems to becoming common around the competition now.

I still think you are right in that some variety would help. Then move to the kick it to the corner and make them work it out later in the game and try and get the opposition into a grinding battle.

NSW cup game was tight also. Hard to get momentum on a soft track.
Attacking flare negated but I didn’t think we knuckles down for a grindfest on D
