Warriors vs Panthers - [Round 11, 2024] GAME DAY
MAGIC ROUND

Panthers7.jpg

Welcome to your NZWF game day thread for todays clash. Please note that this thread will be locked following the final whistle with or without warning. Discussion will then be shifted to the POST MATCH thread.

UP THE WAHS!!!

Are there any other romantically optimistic tragics among us taking heart from some of the youthful displays of other teams this round and just ever so slightly believe that we can turn the magic round in its head, do the unthinkable and win the game ? ……………, (cue the sound of crickets)

I'm really keen to see how the young guys get on today.

I'm gutted we've lost Tohu on top of everyone else, he's usually the glue for us. But, at the same time I'm keen to see how we respond with out our key players. Even Berry with his kick chase, it's become such a central point of our attack - do we simply try to replicate that with new parts (Tuaupiki kicking and Ali chasing) or do we put that on the back burner and try a different strategy?

Lots of youth and enthusiasm. Let's see how they handle the big occasion.

For the first time in my life I have tipped the opposition to win in the game day poll.

Still be cheering for the good guys though

Can someone tell me what Janfin stands for? I am still trying to figure it out after all these years on here and have given up 😆
Janfin is a poster who has been a member for many many years. Every game day they faithfully predicted the warriors would win by 6 points. Which is an odd number so everyone remembered it.
Now one of the options is to predict a Janfin which is a win by 6.
It is a forum meme.

Definitely going to be an interesting watch. Lots of new combinations and inexperience against a well drilled Panthers side. Just hoping we have a red hot go today but am expecting mistakes and clunkiness to prevail. If we can start the first 10 minutes well and build from their we may get a Panthers by 1-12.... hopefully..... Hopefully not a complete blow out.

If Tago and Turuva playing Panthers right edge then our left edge defence will need to be on their game.

We have only 1 of our normal spine playing in position, 2nd choice Centres playing and none of our halves have a long kicking game. On paper we should get beaten well especially playing such a well drilled side as the Panther. In saying that I am looking forward to this game. More to see how we go without SJ.

Would love to see Ali put his mark on the game and give Webster a headache around who he needs to drop for him. Hopefully TMM gets some confidence out of this game so he can start owning the left side when SJ gets back. Really hope we can keep it close but expecting us to lose by 18.

I'm looking forward to seeing how we go without Johnson running every play and at how the new guys and combinations go. First game with the line up so it will take time to gel but hopefully they will work it out.
Im not confident but we have seen some of the other teams overcome senior players being out recently so hopefully we can lift for the game.
Let's gone Wahs!!
